Friday Five: The One about 5 things on my mind this week…

1- You would have to be hiding under a rock, if you did not see any of the Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and JFK Jr. test shots and footage from set from the new Ryan Murphy show “American Love Story”. I’ve made my opinion about the costuming very clear on my socials already but, how could they mess it up so poorly when there are so many reference photos of them and the fact that she was a complete fashion icon and worked in fashion? This is absolutely no shade to the actors however, the costume designer has somehow managed to make JFK Jr (undeniably, one of the most gorgeous men in history), look like he stepped right out of Men’s Wearhouse and don’t even get me started on the wardrobe for Carolyn Bessette: an absolute travesty. Here are some shots, in case you missed them:

Carolyn’s style was so iconic not only because it was so minimal, but the fabrics, the structure, the silhouettes and the fit all were perfection and IMO, the costumer has not captured any of CBK and JFK’s essence in the slightest.

If Carolyn were alive today, here are some pieces I feel like she would ACTUALLY wear: This Jenni Kayne knit exudes luxury and elegance (JKB15 for 15 off), definitely think we would see her carrying the Margaux bag and wearing these jeans.

2- Almost every day I wear some type of lightweight trouser. I just got these from Soeur and can’t wait to style them and show you: they are incredible! I also recently added these J.Crew trousers to cart. Very into the navy.

3- I’ve been trying to add some more feminine pieces to my wardrobe mix. Let’s be honest, I dress for the girls and gays. I stopped asking my husband if he likes my outfits anymore! Haha! But I digress…. I’ve been on the hunt for a floaty lace top, and after circling the internet 100 times, I’ve landed on this one. It’s just the right balance of feminine without all of the ruffles and puffy sleeves etc. that aren’t really me! I’m also very much into this dress (selling out quickly: run!)

4- Ballet flats are my Everest. I can never have too many and just when I think I’m good, I find another pair. I just got these from Soeur and they are so fantastic. I love the higher profile on the foot and the minute I put them on these felt like slippers, so comfortable. I’ve also been on the hunt for a chic white pair. I love these and these. I think they will had a nice contrast to an all black outfit or any neutral outfit and even with denim. These are my current favorite classic jeans, in case you’re wondering!

5- If you follow me on Instagram, and if not, what are you doing with your life?, You would know that I’m having a little bit of a red moment. I recently got this dress and it is so pretty and looks like it could be 10 times the price. Size down. I’m in a small in this picture.

Also, I wear this red T-shirt so much I need a back up one. This little red lace shorts set is so cute and perfect for vacation and I love that you can wear the pieces together or separately styled with other pieces in your closet.

Lastly, and we can go out and buy the latest fashion trends, but, style, takes a while to cultivate. Please, don’t be so hard on yourself!
